On Saturday August 1, 2015 the UAC Miami campus had the pleasure of having Dr. Claire Rene present and introduce our students to "Emotional Intelligence". She explained how emotional intelligence works and why it can be crucial to your career. Emotional Intelligence - "knowing one's emotions, managing emotions, motivating oneself, recognizing emotions in others, and handling relationships" (Salovey & Mayer, 1990)
Emotional intelligence is the "something" in each of us that is a bit intangible. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. It is made up of four core skills that pair up under two primary competencies: personal competence (Self-Awareness & Self-Management) and social competence (Social Awareness & Relationship Management). It is about understanding one's feelings and those around you, it is crucial for successful leadership.
This activity is part of the In Training Service that UAC Miami offers to its Faculty members and students.
